Skanska to construct and renovate veterinary medicine complex at university campus in Texas, USA, for USD 93 M, about SEK 605 M

Skanska has signed a contract to construct the new Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences Education Complex and to complete renovations and the expansion of the existing Small Animal Hospital for Texas A&M University (TAMU) at its main campus in College Station, Texas. The full contract amount of USD 93 M will be included in order bookings for Skanska USA Building for the second quarter of 2014.

The 28,000-square-meter new building will house state-of-the-art classrooms, teaching and laboratory space and a café with indoor and outdoor dining facilities. Combined with the expansion of the small animal hospital, the new facilities will provide opportunities for innovations in teaching and will nurture collaboration and creativity for more than 500 students.

Construction work will start in June 2014 and be completed in April 2016. The grand opening is expected to be held in conjunction with the 100 year anniversary of the Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, which is one of the top veterinary colleges in the country.
