Wake County Public School System, Lincoln Heights Elementary School Renovation and Addition
Skanska-Holt Brothers, a joint venture, provided construction management at-risk services to the Wake County Public School System for Lincoln Heights Elementary School. The project was constructed in three phases.
The first phase included a new two-story addition to the existing school. This addition (Building C) includes 35,933-SF of new classroom spaces, restrooms, mechanical and storage spaces. It also included a new two-stop elevator, outdoor classroom spaces and temporary bus loop for drop off. The school took occupancy of the new space and was open for faculty and students after their return from winter break in January 2017.
The second phase included the renovation of 27,106-SF of existing classroom space (Building A); demolition and abatement of existing buildings; the subsequent construction of 32,741-SF of new space (Building B); and installation of temporary services so that the existing detached classroom buildings and existing kitchen remain in service and fully functional.
The third and final phase included the demolition and abatement of the existing detached classroom buildings and kitchen; construction of a new bus loop for drop off, new exterior storage buildings, exterior covered picnic shelter/outdoor classroom; new hardscaping/landscaping amenities such as basketball courts, play areas, community garden, and walking track; renovation of the existing parking areas; and required DOT improvements to the existing roads adjacent to the project site.
