Skanska, as part of a JV, was awarded a contract to reconstruct 2.1 miles of SR 60 in the vicinity of Tampa International Airport. Widening of SR 60 provides additional lanes for improved capacity in the expanding Tampa Bay community and creates dedicated lanes for elimination of weaving movements. Scope includes 20 bridges, drainage, signal systems and lighting, widening and re-aligning of SR 60, new ramps and work on adjacent streets. The project added 55 ½ lane miles of roadway, 24 new structures and 38 MSE walls. Improvements required 625 new drainage structures and approximately 2.6 million cubic yards of earthwork. Skanska was also responsible for maintenance of traffic, environmental mitigation, and made special efforts to allow access and proactively address traffic noise and schedule issues to finish the project 4 months early.
